Disabled In Hampshire Guaranteed A Job Interview

Date: 25-Aug-2010

Admit to being disabled and you are guaranteed an interview. The trouble is that no-one likes to think they are disabled. In our experience the more severe the hearing impairment the less likely people are to admit to being unable to communicate in shops, supermarkets, restaurants, banks etc. I know these places have loop systems yet out of six banks in Farnborough, only Nationwide’s loop is usually switched on.

If you have a mild hearing issue like you annoy the neighbours, friends and relatives because they a re sick of shouting at you, then it may take five years to admit you have no idea what people are talking about.
If you are suddenly left alone for whatever reason, you will grab hearing aids and thank your lucky stars when the world seems suddenly brighter.
As for a job, smile and go that route if you want that job. We can always help with equipment for it as does Access to Work. The employer gets kudos from the government for employing ‘all sections of the community’. Employers are also welcome to contact us for information.  See our article that introduces Hearing Tips for help over the hurdle of hearing impairment. We make it a little one!
