Noise: let’s blame it on someone else
In yesterday Evening Standard* it was public transport under fire. One guy complained about “please mind the gap between the carriage and the platform” automated messages on the Tube You can see how regular travellers go crazy hearing it at every station. If the government issues us all with a blanket insurance: ‘thou shalt not sue London Transport if you fall down the gap’, they would have some peace.
A guy from Clapham said the regular public announcements just ‘make me turn my ipod up louder’. And that’s why so many people in their late 20’s are tumbling into GP’s surgeries complaining they can’t hear. It won’t get any better if you’ve damaged the hearing but hearing aids enhance what you have left.
How would you solve London's noise problem?
